Shit Men Have Said to Me: Tales of how Men and Women Communicate is a devised piece about the ways in which men and women interrelate. The work blends together the thoughts and interactions confronting societal realities—from catcalling to slut shaming, and everything in between, it is a piece about “what is” as well as “what has been” in the lives of women and men.
Written by: Carly Bodnar, Erin Carr, Greg Nanni, Katherine Perry, Slade Roff, and Kristen Scatton
The workshop production was presented as part of Mz. Fest 2015 (A women centric theatre festival) at Plays and Players Theatre, March 31st - April 5th.

Director's Note"Shit Men Have Said To Me is an idea that came out of past relationships along with extremely blunt things that men have said to me that were hurtful, although not always said in malice. Some were expressed as open and honest statements, while other said to knock me down a peg. These experiences caused me to contemplate about all the shit men have said to me throughout my life: the loving, sweet, mean, sexist, and the cat calling. With all the news coverage and social media exposure regarding the subject of catcalling, slut shaming and the overall interactions between men and women, I want to explore how men and women communicate in today's day and age. I want to explore the "gender-ed" interactions of our everyday lives, how communication has shifted in subtle, and not-so-subtle, ways. I am looking to collect stories from women regarding their interactions with men, men's interactions with women, women's interactions with other women, and men's interactions with other men. I want to use theatre to give voice to women’s stories regarding catcalling, slut shaming, as well as loving and sweet interactions. This is just the beginning of a larger project which I hope will include many diverse voices."
